70% of Americans do not even recognize that drinking alcohol is a risk factor for cancer, according to the National Survey by the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
Are you one of them?
Heavy alcohol drinking certainly has higher risk of cancer of breast, colon, mouth, esophagus, and liver.
But more and more studies are showing that even “moderate” drinking increases risk of cancer.
If you drink one glass of wine or beer a day, that moderate drinking is considered higher risk for cancer.
What is a “standard drink”?
Steps you can take to cut your cancer risk:
-
Don’t buy and keep any alcohol in the house.
-
Drink only on special occasions, if you like to.
-
Limit your drinks to no more than 1-2 standard drinks on those rare, special occasions.
-
Order seltzer water with lime at parties, functions, or at restaurants- so that you can still be part of the “festivities”, while protecting your body and health.
Cheers to your Health !
